A generous donor is matching all gifts made through December 31—up to $25,000—to help bring exceptional live performances and community programs to more people across Greater Boston. Let's open more doors to the arts, together!
You'll have an opportunity to learn iconic choreography from an American masterpiece when teaching artists from the Ailey organization share the power and joy of Alvin Ailey's Revelations in four free events across Boston, March 22 & 23.
First performed in 1960, Revelations is a classic of modern dance, a powerful expression of Black American resilience and hope, and a treasure of American culture. Inspired by what Mr. Ailey called "blood memories" of his childhood and the Baptist Church, it's a testament to hope, joy, and the enduring strength of community.
Be a part of the story when you learn gestures, movements, and adapted steps from this inspiring work.
Former company dancers Renee Robinson and Amos Machanic, Jr., and percussionist Roderick Jackson lead the classes.
Mr. Ailey famously said, "dance is for everyone," and now it's your chance to join in!
The running time for each event will be about two hours, including a get-together with refreshments to follow.
Choose your preferred event below and let us know that you're interested by signing up!
Your RSVP doesn't guarantee admission (events are first-come, first-served), but we'll send you reminders and event updates.
Sign-up will also be available on site.
These events will take place on sport courts and similar hardwood surfaces, so please plan to change out of your outdoor shoes if they are salty, sandy, or wet.
Wear what makes you comfortable for a range of movement. Dancewear and dance shoes are not required at all!
Space is limited in some locations, but we'll have coatracks and tables available for your belongings. Chez-Vous has 60 coin-operated lockers for $1.50 (6 quarters only).
